BIBA — the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics — is an engineering research institute founded in 1981 as one of the first affiliated institutes of the University of Bremen, and today one of the largest research institutions in the state.
MeshTrack set out to solve a deceptively simple problem: how do you track objects indoors, cheaply, without wiring a building full of sensors? The answer was a hybrid of BLE and WiFi RTT, meshed across every beacon attached to an object, turning a network of short-range devices into one long-range system, with edge computing handling the real-time data underneath.

A research prototype like this lives or dies by whether people trust it enough to use it. My job was to make the invisible signals, mesh networks, round-trip timing — feel like something an operator could pick up and understand in seconds. I designed the physical BLE beacon in 3D, giving a piece of lab hardware the kind of sleek, considered form usually reserved for consumer electronics. In parallel, I built the companion app from first concept to final screen: interface logic, icon systems, type, color. all in service of one goal, making industrial-grade localization feel effortless on a factory floor.
