Concept
Designing for an exergame means designing for a body in motion, not a hand on a controller, so every visual decision had to hold up while someone is mid-exercise, glancing at a screen rather than staring at it. I built the 3D assets that populated the game's fantasy world, giving the environment enough visual weight to feel immersive despite the game's short, structured play sessions, and designed the game's cover, tasked with capturing the spirit of a narrative built on choice before a player even starts. Across both, the goal was the same: support a research study measuring something as intangible as motivation with visuals concrete and appealing enough to make players actually want to keep moving.
AI-FIT is an exergame research project studying how interactive narrative affects motivation and player experience during physical exercise. Set in a medieval fantasy world, the game runs thirty minutes of camera-tracked gameplay, where players advance the story by physically performing exercises rather than pressing buttons, choosing between two movements at key narrative branches. Participants played through the game, then completed questionnaires and interviews, giving the research team a clear read on whether story choice actually changes how engaged and motivated a player feels during exercise.
